1925 Biography - Nancy Madden

Nancy Spence was born in Tennessee, 1818, and came to Union County with her parents when a small child. She first married Joshua Peterson (see Gore) 1833 and came to West Eden neighborhood to make her home. After the death of Mr. Peterson she married Locklin L. Madden an Indianan by birth and a teacher by profession. Her only child by Mr. Madden to reach the adult age was Ruth who married Frank J. (see Chapman). Aunty Madden came to Vienna as a resident before the seventies. She was a woman of courage and high ideals and was a devoted member of the M. E. Church having been christened by Peter Cartwright. She lived many years in the shadow of the church and rarely missed a church service.
