Obituary - Donald N. Choate
Vienna – Donald N. Choate, 67, passed away at 12:27 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20,
2010, in Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
Don was born Sept. 22, 1942, in the Hight family homestead, in Johnson County
Illinois. He was the son of Norman S. Choate and Myrtle Mae (Hight) Choate.
Don was united in marriage to Sandra (nee Funk) Dunn on Oct. 26, 1981, in Gilead
Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Simpson. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his mother, Myrtle Mae Choate of
Vienna; five children, Chris Dunn of Vienna, Jim and Tracy Dunn of Vienna, Don
Chaote, Jr. of Paducah, Aaron Choate of Paducah and Michele Murrie of Vienna;
nine grandchildren; two brothers, Larry and Diane Choate of Grantsburg and Terry
Choate of Vienna; three sisters, Karen Sue Choate of Anna, Nancy and Jackie
Wright of St. Croix, Ind. and Mary Voss of Alto Pass; nieces; nephews; and a
host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Norman Choate; an infant son, William
Eric Choate; and a brother, Danny Lee Choate.
Don was a 1960 graduate of Vienna High School. He was employed as a construction
laborer and later worked as a correctional officer at Stateville Correctional
Center in Joiiet.
Don served as the supervisor of the Vienna City Water Plant until his retirement
in April 2008.
He was a member of the Laborer's International Union Local 773 in Marion.
Don enjoyed fishing and camping. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, in Bailey Funeral
Home in Vienna, with Dr. Ed Hollis officiating. Burial will be in Vienna
Fraternal Cmetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Bailey Funeral Home in
Vienna.
